In this webinar brought to you by the HSA LGBTQ+ Housing Research and Practice Network, Professor Peter Matthews (University of Stirling) will explore how LGBT+ lives have historically been under-researched due to stigma and criminalisation. In the absence of good quality evidence, the commonly shared stories of LGBT+ housing tend to be based on cultural stereotypes: the wealthy gay man, living in a city-centre apartment benefiting from the “pink pound”; or familial rejection leading to homelessness. In this webinar, Professor Peter Matthews will draw on the growing evidence base of housing outcomes for LGBT+ people to explore what we really know about this population, and how their pathways differ from that of the heterosexual and/or cisgender population.
