Adele Irving is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and the Director of Education in the Department of Social Sciences at Northumbria University. Adele’s primary research interests are single homelessness and the relationship between housing and well-being. In November 2018, Adele secured her PhD in this area and in April 2019, was awarded the HSA’s Valerie Karn Early Career Researcher Prize. Committed to supporting knowledge exchange, Adele was a founding member of the North East Homelessness Think Tank, academic advisor to the North East Third Sector Research Group, and is a Trustee of a North East charity that works with young people with complex needs.
