Registration is now officially open for the Housing Studies Association Annual Conference 2026 (#HSA2026), the flagship annual gathering for housing researchers, practitioners, policymakers and sector leaders.

A Record-Breaking Year

Following an unprecedented response to the call for papers, with over 220 abstract submissions, #HSA2026 is set to be one of the largest and most dynamic conferences in the Association’s history. The volume and quality of submissions reflect the vitality of contemporary housing scholarship and the urgency of the issues facing the sector.

This year’s theme, “Housing Transformed: Climate, Health, and Technology in an Uncertain Future,” places housing at the centre of debates about environmental transition, public health, digital innovation, and structural inequality. The programme will explore how housing systems are evolving, and how research, policy and practice must respond.

Programme Highlights

Workshop and paper sessions will address a wide range of pressing housing issues, including:

  • Homelessness and housing precarity
  • Dynamics within housing systems
  • The private rented sector
  • Financialisation and affordability
  • Retrofit and decarbonisation
