Amma Antwi-Yeboah

Biography
I am an experienced professional with over 20 years in local government, specializing in housing and homelessness solutions. As the Head of Housing Solutions, I lead nine services and oversee a dedicated team of 100 employees committed to addressing critical housing challenges. My portfolio includes homelessness prevention, choice-based lettings, disabled facilities grants, private sector housing, rough sleeping support, temporary accommodation, and Central Suffolk Lettings. With a background in Economics and a postgraduate, I have also earned professional qualifications, including PRINCE2 certification and CIH Level 7 accreditation. These have equipped me with the skills to manage complex statutory housing requirements, develop effective policies, and deliver high-impact services. I am particularly passionate about tackling homelessness, rural housing challenges, and poverty. Recently, I worked on rural community-led housing projects, collaborating with Community Action Suffolk and Hastoe to address unique local needs. My approach combines strategic leadership with innovative service design, ensuring practical and sustainable solutions. Throughout my career, I have been driven by a commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable populations. I pride myself on fostering collaboration, championing systemic change, and creating resilient services that adapt to evolving demands. Leading in this sector is both a challenge and a privilege, and I remain focused on making a tangible difference in people’s lives through innovative and compassionate housing solutions.

Oscar Durán

Biography
Oscar Durán is the Founding Principal of Black Sailboat Community Development in Fremont, Nebraska, USA. His work bridges frontline community work with applied research focused on how individual and partnership cluster energy flow through civic systems and shape collective momentum, cohesion, and fracture. His research centers on The State of Us, an emerging framework grounded in long term field observation across communities and civic partnerships, informed by concepts of energy, flow, and interaction drawn from systems thinking and applied physics. It identifies six universal civic states and examines how states and energy move between people and institutions through everyday community work. His approach is rooted in the gemba, where community work actually happens, and advocates a proactive, disciplined, and collaborative form of research that integrates academic inquiry, embedded field research, and practitioner reflection, and is intentionally tested in practice to move the science forward. He is currently applying The State of Us within his own professional and community networks and is building a praxis matrix and taxonomy for community work using visual inquiry and analytic mapping. He is also preparing The Garden Regions of Tomorrow: Reviving Our Civic Imagination, a narrative white paper series advancing a new praxis for frontline community work.
